On the afternoon of November 12th, Department of Security, School of Journalism and Communication and School of Future Information Technology, in accordance with the arrangement of “119 Fire Security Publicity and Education Month”, jointly carried out a fire and earthquake evacuation drill in Shangde Teaching Building at south campus with the purpose of strengthening the campus fire security, enhancing the safety awareness and improving the emergency evacuation capacity. Working staff in Security Department, deputy secretaries of the Party Committee of secondary colleges of south campus, some teachers and students participated in this drill.

The activity was conducted in such two parts as lectures on fire and shockproof security knowledge and emergency drill. Through training, teachers and students have acquired the fire and earthquake protection knowledge, fully understood the features and harms of such disasters and grasped the skills of escaping and surviving. Watching the accident cases in recent years has equipped the teachers and students with the knowledge of precaution of fire hazard.

After the training, emergency drill was held. Teachers and students run bending their knees in small steps in the evacuation, quick but in order.

Aiming at enhancing the “Four Capacities”, “Four Understanding” and “Four Capabilities” of fire safety, Department of Security made specific requirements and placed great emphasis on the electrical safety in dormitories. Students must not install the electric wires without permit and use high-power electrical appliance. Furthermore, students were organized to use fire extinguishers so as to improve their emergency response capacity.

This fire and earthquake evacuation drill enhanced safety and self-saving awareness and promoted the students’ capability of escaping and surviving in emergencies.
